On August 15, 2017, after a month's voting by all members of the ISO / TC 135 non-destructive testing technical committee, SHEN Gongtian, Vice President of CSEI was elected as the Chairman of ISO / TC 135 / SC 9 (International Standardization Organization Nondestructive Testing Technical Committee Acoustic Emission Testing Technical Subcommittee), from August 15, 2017 to January 1, 2023. This is another important appointment made by the ISO after June 30, 2017, when China became the host member of the ISO / TC 135 / SC 9 secretariat. From then on, both the chairman and secretary of the subcommittee come from CSEI. The secretary is ZHANG Junjiao, engineer from CSEI non-destructive testing technology center.

Founded in 2007, ISO / TC 135 / SC 9 currently has 17 active member states and 7 observing member states. Six international standards have been completed and released, and six international standards are being developed and revised. Among them, ISO 19835 "Nondestructive Testing - Bridge and Gantry Crane Steel Structure Acoustic Emission Testiing" standard has entered the DIS stage. SHEN Gongtian, Vice President of CSEI is the project leader in the development of ISO 19835.

Since China became the secretariat of ISO / TC 135 / SC 9 in China, all work has been carried out in an orderly and smooth manner. The expert from CSEI was elected as the chairmen of the committees, which would not only further enhance our country's international influence and voice in the field of acoustic emission testing, but also make greater conbributions to the development of the nondestructive testing industry with other countries.
