The Chinese Society for Non-destructive Testing was founded in September 1978.The objective of the society is to promote the advancement of science and technology in the field of non-destructive testing by consolidated broad scientific technological personnel to promote academic exchanges and to make more contribution to the NDT undertaking.

 

It is about thirty years till now!During the twenty six years,concerned and supported by all the NDT colleagues at home and abroad,great efforts have been made as NDT has played more and more important roles in the National constructions.

 

ChSNDT is the most representative and authoritative learned organization in the NDT field in China.There are more than one hundred thousand members of the Society,who are distributed in more than twenty sectors,including industries,scientific and technology,education,quality and safety control and technology supervision.And branch societies have been set up in more than 26 provinces,autonomous regions and municipalities in China.

 

Since the founding of the Society,the national anniversaries have been organized every three or four years.They are:the 1^st anniversary took place in Shanghai in 1978;the 2^nd was in Beidaihe,Liaoning Province in 1981;the 3^rd was in Dalian,Liaoning province in 1984;the 4^th was in Wuhan,Hubei Province in 1988;the 5^th was in Huangshan,Anhui Provinc in 1991;the 6^th was in Beijing,1996;the 7^th was in Shantou,Guangdong Province in 1999;the 8^th was in Suzhou,Jiangsu Province in 2003;the 9^th was in Changzhou,Jiangsu Province in 2009.During these national conferences,the NDT colleagues from various parts of China gathered together,exchanged  their experience in their study and work,propagated science and technology results,discussed the problems in actual practice,transferred the information of the NDT new products,which have strongly promoted the development and application of NDT in China.In these conferences many foreign guests were invited as well especially from our sisiter societies to introduce their advanced technology,experience and new products.

 

Except the national conferences,most branch societies host NDT conference and exhibition every three or four years,such provinces as:Liaoning Province,Hubei Province,Shanxi Province,Henan Province,Anhui Province,Jiangsu Province,Sichuan Province,Jilin Province,Jiangxi Province,and etc.and municipalities as Shanghai,Beijing,Tianjin,Chongqing.And some provinces hold conferences together with the Society Technical Committees,in this way the technical exchange will be more effective and some technical problems in practice could be solved directly.

 

ChSNDT has her own Journal named Non-destructive Testing in Chinese( abstract in English ),monthly.The journal is so successfully managed as she has won many rewards as:National Reward of Scientific and Technological Journal and Shanghai Outstanding Science and Technological Journal,etc..The journal has done great efforts in propagating NDT techniques,education and training of NDT personnel and exchanging NDT experience and results as well as in promoting the development of NDT new technology in China.The journal has her own retrieve search system and discs of the overtime journals,which are greatly convenient for the readers.

 

ChSNDT has always stressed her emphasis on coorperation and exchange internationally.The Society has signed friendly cooperation contracts with nine societies from the founding of 1978.They are :The Germen NDT Society(DGZFP),The Russian Society for Non-destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostic(RSNDT),The Japanese Society for Non-destructive Inspection(JSNDI),The Korean Society for Non-destructive Testing(KSNT),Indian Society for NDT(ISNT),The Brazilian Association of Non-destructive Testing (ABENDE),The America Society for Non-destructive Testing(ASNT),The Canadian Society for Non-destructive Testing(CSNDT),and The Singapore Welding Society.We have set up good relationship with many other country societies.ChNDT was ratified as a member of ICNDT,APCNDT and an Associate Member of EFNDT in 1979,1987 and 2004 respectively.ChNDT tries her best to attend international activities vigorously and wish to do good efforts in the international affaires.

 

At the ICNDT meeting in 15^th WCNDT hosted by Italian Society for NDT in Rome 2000,ChSNDT was awarded the honor to host 17^th WCNDT in Shanghai,China in 2008.It is a great success that means ICNDT and most of the NDT societies trust ChSNDT having the ability to host well the 17WCNDT,and means that the NDT development in China reaches a generally acknowledge.ChSNDT is sure with the cooperation and great support of NDT colleagues from home and abroad to have confidence in hosting well the 17 WCNDT.
