The level of the development of non-destructive testing(NDT) enterprise is an important mark for the development level of a country’s industry.Non-destructive testing technologies are so important as they are essential technologies of the quality insurance system for modern industries.NDT is also an all-around new high applied technology for almost every area of modern industries and societies in order to ensure high quality of products,rationalization of cost and safety of equipment operation.Nowadays,NDT has been widely applied to diversified areas of modern industry,transportation,civil engineering,astronavigation and avigation, security, anti-terrorization,military affairs and national defence,and even various areas of daily life.The reliant sciences and technologies of the NDT are very broad.They are all the dedicated science to NDT,such as modern physics,electronics and micro electronics,computer science and technology,signal processing,material science,and even almost all knowledge from mathematics,physics ,chemistry,astronomy,geology and biology.NDT is a multidisciplinary subject with great demands.The most importance of NDT to the modern industrialized society is recognized by more and more people under the great efforts making by all the NDT personnals and the NDT society.

 

History is a mirror given lessons for doing affairs.History of the development of NDT technologies and the development of non-destructive testing enterprise of China has its proper characteristics.Our NDT enterprise has been made great progress,even though still needs more advance.Since the economic reform carried out ,the development of NDT is faster and faster.Especially in the recent years,as the level of industrialization has raise greatly,the development of NDT has been speeded up rapidly.

 

 Hence,it is the time to make annals to record the progress of our NDT enterprise truly,externally and roundly.This is a book to give the trace of the development of the NDT techniques,to give the trace of the development of the NDT instruments,to give the trace of the development of the team of trained NDT personnel and expertise technicians,to give the trace of the development of the ability of research and developing on NDT techniques,to give the trace of the development and growth of the Chinese Society for Non-destructive Testing(ChSNDT).This “The NDT Yearbook of China”provides us a huge book about our NDT history,resourceful and knowledgeable.

 

The Chinese Society for Non-destructive Testing was founded in September,1978,while the NDT enterprise in China had been quite advanced.The objective of the society is to promote the advancement of science and technology in the field of non-destructive testing by consolidated broad scientific technological personnel to promote academic exchanges and to make more contribution to the NDT undertaking.Since then,concerned and supported by all the NDT colleagues at home and abroad,the ChSNDT has make great efforts on the academic exchanges both domestically and internationally,on the organizing and hosting conferences at different levels,on training and making qualification and certification NDT personnel.ChSNDT has always stressed  her emphasis on cooperation and exchange internationally.ChSNDT is the most representative and authoritative learned organization in the NDT field in China,and is attractive as well.It is the responsibility to take charge of compilation The NDT Yearbook of China with honesty and impersonality.

 

This “The NDT Yearbook of China”is a start publication.There must be some missing as the time span is so large.However,it is publication must accelerate the development of our NDT enterprise.And it is strongly beneficial to our goal:’Let the world understand China’s non-destructive testing;let China’s non-destructive testing move toward  the world’.
